Man liest in den letzten Tagen ja viel über FaceyourManga und sieht überall die tollen kleinen Bildchen, auf denen Leute glauben sich gut hinbekommen zu haben. Ich habs auch probiert, aber es tut mir, ich kann bei Weitem nicht behaupten, dass mir irgend eine der Figuren, die man dort zusammen basteln kann, ähnlich sieht...

There is a lot about FaceyourManga out on the web these days. People seem to be very happy with the Manga version of themselves... but well, I tried to "design" myself and it's just not working!

Heute mal: ein Teddybär - Today: Teddy bear

Hier sind wieder ein paar Illustrationen für das Kinderbuch-Projekt an dem ich arbeite, diesmal ein Teddy in verschiedenen Positionen. Und weil der Kleine so aktiv ist, gibt's diesmal einen Bastel-Hampelmann-Teddy dazu. Das hört sich einfacher an als es ist, denn ich musste tief in die Hampelmann-Bastel-Technik eintauchen und auch erst der dritte Versuch hat geklappt (Kinderkanal sei dank).

Here are some more illustrations for the children's book project I'm working on - a teddy doing a bunch different things. He's a very active guy, that's why I decided to add a handicraft version of the teddy. That was much more difficult than I thought, I had to start over two times. But finally it worked (thanks to Kinderkanal = Children's channel)

Wenn ich groß bin - When I'm grown up

Am Wochenende waren meine Eltern zu Besuch, die nach einer Aufräumaktion zu Hause ("Das Kind wohnt schon zehn Jahre nicht mehr hier, sie soll den Krempel bei sich aufbewahren") ein paar Sachen aus meiner Kindheit aussortiert haben. Neben ein paar BRAVO-Postern (auf die darauf abgebildeten Personen möchte ich hier lieber nicht eingehen) war auch eins meiner Lieblingskinderbücher dabei: "Wenn ich groß bin". Ich gebe zu, von heute aus betrachtet ist ein gewisser sozialistischer Einfluss deutlich erkennbar, aber damals gefiel mir die Vorstellung aus Bausteinen ein Haus zu bauen wirklich sehr :-) Ich werde neben in meine BUMMI Sammelreihe ins Bücher-Regal stellen.

My parents came to see me, they cleaned up their house and found lots of stuff from my childhood. One piece was one of my favorite childrens books "When I'm grown up". I have to confess: looking at it from today's point of view, there is a little socialistic influence but I really liked the idea of building a house from bricks when I was a child. I will put it next to my BUMMI books into my book shelf.

Der Flix - The flix

Ich bin Fan. Dem Rat von Alex und Jenny folgend, habe ich mir das Buch "Der Held" von Flix gekauft, obwohl ich mich eher nicht als Comic-Fan bezeichnen würde. Ich hab trotzdem herrlich gelacht. Das Buch ist die Diplomarbeit von Flix - seine Autobiografie, die allerdings nicht beim Diplom aufhört sondern bis zum Lebensende erzählt wird. Wer einen kleinen Vorgeschmack auf seine Comics haben will, sollte ab und an auf seiner Homepage vorbei schauen, dort gibt es die "Heldentage 2.0". Tolle Beobachtungsgabe der junge Herr.

I'm a fan. I bought the book "Hero" (sorry, only German, Spanish and French), even though I'm not really a comic fan. Anyway: I totally like it. The book is his final thesis, he drew his biography, even the part after he graduated. For more stuff, check his homepage but again: only in German.

Der Prototyp für Teil 1 ist gerade erst fertig geworden, weiter geht's. Die Elefanten landen etwas unsanft nach ihrem Sturz vom Seil. Da ich viel Feedback bezüglich des Entstehungsprozesses bekomme, diesmal ein paar mehr Bilder dazu.

Der Prototype for partl 1 just got finished, let's go on. The elephants are balancing on a piece of string and fall down. I got lots of feedback about the making process of the illustrations so here are some more pictures.
